Easy homemade biscuits that are soft and fluffy. They’re made from scratch and are ready in 15 minutes.
Ingredients
3 cups all purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking power
3/4 cup COLD butter
1 egg
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Directions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees
Step 2
Make sure your butter is cold. It can help to cut the butter into pieces and stick it back in the fridge. Only pull it out once the butter is incorporated into the dough
Step 3
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Step 4
Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour mixture. You want pes-sized pieces of butter, so don't cut too small.
Step 5
Add in the milk and eggs and mix just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky, that's fine. You want to see the butter pieces in the dough, so don't over work it.
Step 6
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Sprinkle flour on to of the dough so it won't stick to your fingers. Knead the dough 10-15 times. If you feel the dough is still too sticky just sprinkle more flour.
Step 7
Pat the dough onto a 3/4 - 1inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass. This can get up to 12 biscuits depending on the size you cut.
Step 8
Place the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet or parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
