Buttermilk Zucchini Fries with Whiskey Bourbon Sauce

1lb zucchini cut into wedges or rounds
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
Salt and pepper to taste
Canola oil for frying
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp whipping cream
2 tbsp bourbon
Pinch of salt
Mix flour and cornmeal; set aside. Soak zucchini in buttermilk for at least one hour.
Coat zucchini in flour mixture. Heat oil in skillet. Deep fry zucchini until golden brown.
To make sauce: Melt butter in small saucepan over medium-heat. Whisk in remaining ingredients. Simmer until thickened, whisking often, about 3 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.
